Riding the Light
I was standing in the pouring rain
For some reason it just wasn’t the same
The moon was shining so bright but
The rain wasn’t falling on me tonight
All I could see were flashes of light
All I could hear was that something ain’t right
The clouds were forming all around
They were coming in, they were taking me down
The leaves were falling from the trees
I was feeling weak to my knees
I got to my feet and looked to the sky
Pointed straight up, said I’m not ready to die
There I stood in a hurricane
I could feel my soul, couldn’t feel any pain
I knew someone was staring at me
From somewhere that I couldn’t see
I’ll never forget the night
I thought that I was riding the light
When something picked me up onto my feet
I felt like I just couldn’t be beat
So I opened my arms
looked to the sky
I was going to have to do better than try
‘Cause this time I wouldn’t see the end
I’m still here for some odd reason
